Case Studies

Clients more often than not, know that they have to ensure their machinery complies with some European legislation but are often unsure how to undertake the exercise.

A typical "enquirer" will contact the consultancy with a brief description of the machine and ask "how long will it take and what are the likely costs". They are often pleasantly surprised that the costs may not be as much as they feared

Case Study 1:

An importer of commercial mowing machines was requested by his potential customer (a local government authority) to provide a CE Mark and a EC Declaration of Conformity for the machines. Although they had been successfully sold in the USA with an excellent safety record, the machines had to be assessed for the European Regulations.

CE Mark Consultancy was able to test the machines, make recommendations necessary for compliance, check the Operating Instructions, and confirm the machine was compliant after suitable modification, in ten working days.

Case Study 2:

A manufacture of agricultural equipment had been instructed by a HSE official to ensure "very promptly" that his machines were compliant with the Machinery Directive otherwise they could be withdrawn from the market-place.

CE Mark Consultancy was able to test and approve the equipment, recommend modifications to the machine, provide drawings, create a Technical File and issue a "Declaration of Incorporation" on behalf of the client to the HSE's satisfaction within a few days.

Case Study 3:

An "overseas" manufacturer of a commercial ice cream machine wished to open an "ice cream parlour" in London UK recently. He had not realised that CE marking was necessary and consequently the machine could not be used.

Following a recommendation from a previous client, the manufacturer contacted - CE Mark Consultancy .

The machine was tested over a period of one week modified to comply with EC Regulations (in this case the Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EC). Modifications to the circuitry of the machine, the guards, its label and Operating Instructions were undertaken and the machine now satisfactorily complies ready to open the "ice cream parlour".

We help machine manufacturers and importers from around the world to CE Mark their machines, products, processes and systems.

Following the requirements of the main EU Directives such as, Machinery Directive, EMC Directive, Low Voltage Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive, ATEX Directive and many more European Machine Safety Legislation.
